![]() The most unique feature of the Model 14 was its magazine tube which had a special spiral design at certain points along the tube’s length. A pump-action rifle was somewhat of an odd choice at a time when lever-action rifles were still preferred, but the Model 14 sold fairly well and was produced between 19 before being replaced by the Model 141 (much like its counterpart the Model 8 which was replaced by the Model 81 in 1936). The Model 14 was intended to be a competitor to the Winchester Model 1894 lever action rifle as well as a manually operated alternative to Remington’s own Model 8 semi-auto rifle designed by John M. It was originally designed in 1908 by John Pederson, the famed inventor of the Pederson device for use with the ’03 Springfield military rifle. The Remington Model 14 was for many years the standard American pump-action hunting rifle.
